Black Barn Farm
A Family Farming Tradition in Cross Village
Located in historic Cross Village, Black Barn Farm is a family-owned farm celebrating Northern Michigan's agricultural heritage. Operated by Paul and Kerrie Bianchi and their family, the farm's roots date to 2005, when the family began selling homegrown produce at the Harbor Springs Farmers Market. Their passion for gardening eventually grew into a business offering fresh vegetables, homemade pasta, pesto, and pasture-raised eggs. Today, Black Barn Farm occupies 20 acres of a former 19th-century farm and orchard, where the family has worked to restore agricultural land using natural growing practices. Visitors can explore the farm market, featuring seasonal produce, fresh-cut flowers, artisan foods, locally sourced meats and dairy products, and handmade goods. During the holidays, the farm also offers Christmas trees, handcrafted wreaths, and seasonal decorations.

For the eventual dedicated Our Stories article, Black Barn Farm has an especially interesting historical angle: the transformation of a late-1800s working farm and orchard into a modern family operation. Its official website includes photographs documenting the restoration of the property beginning in 2017, which would make an excellent historical Then & Now feature.
